The Khoury Technique
Khoury Technique for Bone Grafting: A Revolutionary Approach to Bone Restoration
The Khoury Technique for Bone Grafting has become one of the most predictable methods for treating alveolar bone deficiencies before implant placement. By combining thin autogenous cortical plates with particulate bone, clinicians can reconstruct horizontal, vertical, and combined defects while achieving highly stable long-term outcomes.

What Is the Khoury Technique for Bone Grafting?
The Khoury Technique is an autogenous bone grafting procedure designed to regenerate deficient alveolar ridges before implant placement. Instead of using a conventional block graft, thin cortical plates are fixed to create a biological compartment that is filled with particulate bone chips, promoting rapid vascularization and predictable bone regeneration.
How Does the Khoury Technique Work?
The procedure consists of harvesting an autogenous cortical bone block, splitting it into thin plates and fixing them to the recipient site. The space between the plates is then filled with autogenous particulate bone, creating a stable scaffold for regeneration.
One of the main advantages of this technique is the rapid vascularization of the graft, allowing implant placement in approximately 4 months while minimizing long-term bone resorption.

Clinical Applications Bone Grafting
The Khoury Technique is indicated for a wide variety of clinical situations, including:
- Horizontal ridge augmentation.
- Vertical ridge augmentation.
- Combined bone defects.
- Implant site development.
- Reconstruction of localized alveolar defects before implant placement.
Conclusion
The Khoury Technique for Bone Grafting is one of the most predictable solutions for reconstructing alveolar bone defects before implant placement. Its biological approach promotes rapid vascularization, stable bone regeneration, and excellent long-term volume maintenance, making it a reliable alternative to many conventional grafting techniques.
Because of its versatility, the technique can be applied to horizontal, vertical, and combined bone defects, helping clinicians achieve predictable implant rehabilitation in challenging cases.
At Bone Course USA, participants learn every step of the Khoury Technique through lectures, clinical cases, and practical surgical protocols, gaining the knowledge needed to confidently apply advanced bone reconstruction procedures in daily practice.
